Conference Chair Statement

 Prof. Marwan Awartani

PTUK President

Conference Chairman

It is our distinct pleasure and honor to host the “Sixth Palestinian Conference for Modern Trends in Mathematics and Physics" at the Palestine Technical University PTUK . This conference has become a scientific land mark in Palestine. The first/founding conference was Initiated in 1993 by the Palestinian Society for Mathematical Sciences [PSMS] and was hosted by Birzeit university.  Subsequent conferences were organized at An Najah national University, Palestine Polytechnic University, Al- Quds University – Abu Dies , and the Arab American University –Jenin respectively.

In all these conferences serious effort was made by the scientific and organizing committees to secure the participation of a significant number of renowned mathematicians and physicists from around the world. The participation of a good number of visiting scientists has provide our students and faculty alike with invaluable opportunities for exposure and networking, which are especially important within the Palestinian academic ecosystem suffering from an array of mobility restrictions.

The conference aims at creating a space for sustainable interaction, exchange and collaboration amongst fellow scholars in Palestinian universities and with their expatriate and international counterparts. It also aims at encouraging scientific research in the fields of mathematics and physics and raising interest among university students in pursuing graduate studies in these fields.

I wish to extend my deep appreciation for the sister universities who hosted previous conferences and for the Palestinian society for mathematical sciences for conceiving and launching this visionary scientific initiative. I wish to also extend, on behalf of the Palestinian math and physics community, our deep appreciation and gratitude for the international advisory committee and for proactive support and solidarity offered by our international guest speakers. A special word of thanks goes to Professor Saber ElAydeh and Professor Edriss Titi for the steady visionary and resilient support they have lent to these conferences since their inception in 1993.

Finally, my sincere thanks go to the conference organizing committee chaired by Dr. Saed Mallak and to my colleagues from PTUK who have worked relentlessly over many months to make this conference a great success.

Let’s seize this occasion to revitalize and institutionalize the Palestinian society for mathematical and physical sciences which will serve as the driver for the consolidation, growth and internationalization of teaching, learning and research in the mathematical and physical sciences.
