Objectives

  • Adapting the university's academic environment to the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Providing equal opportunities for students with disabilities to participate in the university's courses, programs, and activities.
  • Enhancing the students' independence, nurturing their spirit of cooperation, and highlighting their full potential.
  • Raising confident and active individuals in society who are capable of contributing to its progress.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Determining the students' special needs through interviews and questionnaires.
  • Providing accessible curricula and references for students with disabilities by providing the necessary assistive technologies that facilitate access to educational materials.
  • Providing assistance for exam setting.
  • Providing assistance in carrying out administrative tasks such as registration.
  • Seeking a collaborative relationship with colleges to enhance the education provided to students with disabilities.
  • Providing advice, support, and guidance to students with disabilities, whether academically, socially, or psychologically.
  • Seeking to rehabilitate the university's buildings and facilities to accommodate the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Encouraging the integration of students with disabilities into the general student body and establishing joint internal and external academic activities.
  • Updating the university's laws, regulations and strategies to include the needs and interests of students with disabilities.
  • Raising the community's awareness of inclusive education.
  • Organizing workshops and seminars to raise awareness of the university community and parents of the needs of people with disabilities.
  • Maintaining a collaborative and supportive relationship with professionals and stakeholders within the community, in order to enhance and support the unit's mission and services.
