About Sustainability Office

Sustainable development has become a central focus in global development efforts. This concept offers a promising opportunity for creating an environmentally sustainable built environment through an integrated design approach, which helps to minimize negative impacts on both the environment and human well-being. Sustainability is not limited to environmental performance alone; it also includes social and economic dimensions, requiring a long-term perspective and responsibility for future outcomes. Sustainable development is widely recognized as a key pathway for progress, with the World Summit on Sustainable Development Plan of Implementation urging governments to urgently adopt sustainability measures.

In recent years, there has been a growing emphasis on sustainable development within the context of Palestine. As a result, sustainability has emerged as a critical area for both practical application and academic research in the region. Consequently, it is crucial for institutions to establish specialized entities dedicated to addressing the challenges and complexities of sustainable development. At Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie (PTUK), we have established the Sustainability Development Office as a multidisciplinary hub that designs strategies, provides consultation, and promotes public awareness on sustainability issues. Additionally, the office supports both basic and applied research and manages projects related to sustainable and green built environments for the PTUK community and the broader local society.
