Waste Measurement System [12.3.1]
System for measuring total waste generated and recycled by the university.
A robust Waste Measurement System provides the data backbone for waste reduction strategies. PTUK’s formal procedure defines measurement intervals, categorization, equipment (scales), and reporting formats. This system supports operational decisions (where to add bins, which streams to target), provides transparent metrics for annual sustainability reporting, and enables students to participate in data collection and analysis. Measured indicators (kg of plastic, organics, paper, hazardous waste) are used to set targets and track progress against SDG12 goals (waste reduction, recycling rates). Integration with procurement and catering data allows PTUK to link supply-chain decisions to measured waste outcomes.
