Waste Measurement

Waste Measurement (Operational) [12.3.2]

Measurement and reporting of total waste generated, recycled, and sent to

Operational waste measurement focuses on the day-to-day processes that produce the data: bin collection protocols, segregated bin placements, weighing routines, and quality checks. PTUK uses the measurement procedure to ensure consistent, auditable data capture and to train the teams responsible for collection. Students integrate measurement into coursework and research, providing both labour and analytical value. Reliable operational measurement allows rapid feedback loops for campaigns, pilot adjustments (e.g., composting capacity), and procurement changes aimed at reducing waste generation at the source. Measurement also supports hazard tracking for regulated waste streams.
