List of reports related to this goal
Introduction:
Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie (PTUK) has demonstrated a strong and increasing commitment to advancing Sustainable Development Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) through education, research, campus operations, and community engagement. Recognizing the urgent challenges posed by energy insecurity and rising demand across Palestine, the university integrates renewable energy concepts and sustainability principles throughout its academic programs, applied research initiatives, and institutional policies. PTUK views clean energy not only as a technical requirement but also as a strategic pathway for enhancing social well-being, supporting economic resilience, and strengthening national independence in the energy sector.
Academically, PTUK offers specialized programs and courses in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, and Energy Management, ensuring that students gain a strong foundation in solar, wind, and hybrid energy systems. These programs combine theoretical knowledge with practical training through laboratories, research centers, and real-world applications. Students actively participate in designing, building, testing, and evaluating photovoltaic systems, wind energy models, and storage technologies, preparing them for careers in the growing clean energy industry.
PTUK also invests in applied research and innovation to support national renewable energy development. Faculty and student research projects address topics such as PV system performance analysis, microgrid design, wind resource assessment, and smart grid integration. The university collaborates with public institutions, private companies, and international organizations to pilot sustainable energy solutions that benefit local communities and industry partners.
On the operational level, PTUK has taken meaningful steps to reduce its carbon footprint and enhance energy efficiency across campus facilities. This includes the installation of photovoltaic solar systems to generate part of the campus electricity needs, upgrading lighting and climate control systems for greater efficiency, and adopting environmentally responsible procurement practices. These efforts not only lower operational costs but also serve as educational models for students and visitors.
Through workshops, training programs, public seminars, and outreach activities, PTUK actively promotes awareness of clean energy technologies and sustainable consumption practices among students, professionals, and surrounding communities. By linking knowledge, practice, and social responsibility, PTUK continues to play a leading role in advancing SDG 7 and fostering a cleaner and more sustainable future for Palestine.

Executive Summary of Affordable and Clean Energy report 2024-2025
The SDG 7 Report 2024–2025 presents Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie’s achievements in promoting clean, affordable, and sustainable energy solutions in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals. PTUK has prioritized renewable energy education, research, and campus operations to address national energy challenges and support the transition toward low-carbon development within Palestine. The university recognizes that expanding clean energy access is closely linked to economic resilience, environmental protection, and long-term community well-being.
During this period, PTUK expanded its academic programs and interdisciplinary courses related to Renewable Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Energy Management. These programs are designed to equip students with both fundamental knowledge and hands-on technical skills through laboratory work, field applications, and digital simulation platforms. The university strengthened active learning environments by integrating student-led projects, applied research modules, and industry-focused training that prepare graduates to contribute effectively to the renewable energy sector.
Significant progress was made in research and innovation, focusing on photovoltaic system performance, microgrid optimization, wind energy assessment, hybrid energy solutions, and energy efficiency strategies. PTUK supported collaborative research projects with local municipalities, private-sector companies, and international organizations to transfer knowledge and pilot real-world solutions. These activities reinforce the university’s role in shaping national clean energy strategies and policies.
PTUK has also taken steps to reduce its environmental footprint and serve as a model of sustainable energy practice. The university installed photovoltaic solar systems on campus buildings to partially supply its electricity demand and upgraded lighting and equipment to more efficient alternatives. These operational measures reduce carbon emissions, lower energy costs, and provide students with visible, practical examples of sustainable energy in practice.
The university extended its impact beyond campus through community outreach, capacity-building workshops, and technical advisory services that support local engineers, farmers, schools, and municipalities in adopting renewable energy solutions. By linking academic excellence with community engagement, PTUK continues to promote clean energy awareness and build professional capacity across Palestine.
This report reflects PTUK’s ongoing commitment to supporting SDG 7 and advancing a future where clean and affordable energy is accessible, efficient, and central to national development.
