Sustainability Literacy Assessment

Sustainability Literacy Assessment  [17.4.4]

Measurement and evaluation of students’ sustainability literacy and understanding of the SDGs.

The “Sustainability Literacy Assessment” focus area at PTUK focuses on evaluating the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of students, faculty, and staff regarding sustainable development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This focus area is designed to measure understanding of sustainability concepts, awareness of global and local challenges, and the ability to apply sustainability principles in academic, professional, and community contexts.

By implementing sustainability literacy assessments, PTUK identifies gaps in understanding and designs targeted interventions to enhance competencies related to energy efficiency, water management, renewable energy, responsible consumption, climate action, and social responsibility. The focus area emphasizes evidence-based evaluation to improve teaching, curriculum design, and community outreach programs.

This focus area directly advances SDG4 (Quality Education) by promoting effective, inclusive, and competency-based learning outcomes and supports SDG17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by sharing assessment methodologies, tools, and results with partner institutions, government bodies, and NGOs. Public reporting of assessment outcomes facilitates transparency, knowledge exchange, and collaborative improvement of sustainability education programs. By linking assessment results with curriculum development and community engagement, PTUK strengthens its overall commitment to preparing students and stakeholders to actively contribute to sustainable development.
