Government & NGO SDG Policy Input

Government & NGO SDG Policy Input [17.2.1]

Direct involvement or input into national or regional SDG policy development with governments and NGOs.

Palestine Technical University Kadoorie (PTUK) plays a strategic role in supporting national efforts to achieve sustainable development goals by contributing academic expertise to governmental policy-making and NGO program planning. The university serves as a knowledge partner for ministries, local institutions, development agencies, and civil society organizations through advisory roles, expert consultations, research-based policy recommendations, and participation in national committees. This focus area focuses on PTUK’s involvement in shaping strategies related to environmental sustainability, agricultural development, renewable energy, public health, community empowerment, and educational reform.

By integrating academic research with policy formulation, PTUK ensures that national strategies are informed by evidence and aligned with both local needs and global SDG frameworks. Faculty members frequently contribute technical reports, feasibility studies, impact assessments, and development recommendations that guide national planning efforts. Student participation in policy-oriented projects also strengthens civic engagement and encourages youth involvement in public development agendas.

This focus area directly supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by enabling coordinated collaboration across academic, governmental, and civil society sectors. Through ongoing dialogue and shared planning mechanisms, PTUK helps build institutional capacity, enhance transparency in public decision-making, and promote long-term sustainable development. These partnerships ensure that the university's research and educational resources contribute meaningfully to shaping policies that strengthen Palestinian resilience, reduce inequalities, and improve the quality of life for communities across the country.
