The PTUK University aims to be in line with the government plans and strategies regarding the climate change. From the PTUK side, the transformation in all of its operation procedures taking into account protecting environment, economy and society, also inclusion of these aspects in the programs’ curriculums, and in its research activities are of the main interests of the of the PTUK administration.
Among these procedures are the procedures regarding the purchase of all of goods, equipment, works, and services considering the social, environmental and economic issues across the three University campuses. Also, all of the procurement procedures especially the procurement for new buildings or buildings finishing focuses on the sustainability procedures.
This policy applies to all University staff and to all of the University undertakings to ensure everyone implements his responsibility in this policy.
The main goal of this policy is to buy goods and services considering the environmental and social impacts and risks. Besides, this strategy targets to: buy energy efficient goods, equipment, and appliances, adopt water efficient practices in the farming activities, promote the use of biodegradable materials, optimize the use of the natural resources, and encourages managing the energy consumption that benefits both in reducing the bill and the pollutant emissions.
This policy also targets maximizing the social values for the university staff as well as for the local community who usually involved in the supply chain of the university.
Raising the awareness and promoting the best practices regarding the sustainable procurement/ purchasing procedures among the university community is part of this policy. This also applies for the purchasing decision making staff.
The responsibility to achieve the goals of this policy lies on the various stakeholders of the procurement and purchasing activities as follows:
As the other policies and strategies regarding the sustainability, this policy is directed by the university president assistant for the governance affairs. This policy should be reviewed every 3 years.
To investigate the environmental and the social impact of applying the details of this procurement policy and the effectiveness of the practices derived from this policy, an annual report will be prepared. regarding prepared.
