Accessible Institutional Repositories of Higher Education: PTUK Organizes Training Workshop on Scientific Research Outputs

Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie organized a training workshop to evaluate the project “Research Output Management through Open Access Institutional Repositories in Palestinian Higher Education (ROMOR)" which is funded by the European Union Representative within the framework of Erasmus+ ROMOR Project.
PTUK’s participation in the project comes along with four European universities: Vienna Technical University in Austria, UniversityofBrighton and University ofGlasgow in the United Kingdom, University of Parma in Italy; in addition to three Palestinian universities: the Islamic University in Gaza, Birzeit University and Al Quds Open University.
In this context, the project coordinator and the lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering at Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie, Dr. Nael Salman welcomed the guests stressing out the university’s interest in the scientific research development, which will give rise to enriching science and knowledge among the university students and faculty members. Salman pointed out that free access to information has become a prerequisite for scientific and academic research, for such programs will open doors to the local universities to benefit from international research experiences.
The Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Rana Samara delivered a presentation in which she showed the efforts exerted by the Deanship to create a motivating and encouraging scientific research environment for academics and the endeavors made at the international and regional levels in order to publish research papers in the University Scientific Journal and in the world peer-review journals.
The university team concluded the work model for the different technologies and mechanisms that the university will employ in order to manage the scientific research output repositories in an effective way that will contribute to the real motivation of scientific research in the university.
For their part, representatives from European partner universities praised the model prepared by the team delivering, however, a couple of suggestions for outmost development.
