Marking World Palestinian Heritage Day: PTUK and Ministry of Culture Organize Lecture on White Spindle Dress

COC of Fashion Designat Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, organized a specialized seminar on October 7, 2018 to celebrate the Palestinian uniform heritage as part of its national identity focusing on the types and features of the dresses in Tulkarem area.
The lecture was given by the expert in the Palestinian heritage, Ms. Maha Hanoun in celebration of the World Palestinian Heritage Day which is yearly marked on October 6.
The Director of the Center, Samer Sa’bi stated that the purpose behind holding such seminars is to deepen the knowledge and culture of the Palestinian spindled dresses inside the people’s minds in Tulkarem area and to raise their awareness of the used clothes, accessories and the types of embroidery which gives rise to preserving the Palestinian identity and heritage.
Ms. Hanoun introduced a detailed explanation about the different types of the spindle dresses in Tulkarem area which is a white spindle dress that has accessories, a headdress, a belt, a shawl, in addition to Al Kafryat traditional costume which is a long spotted dress that implies simplicity, opened in front, and has a waist belt.
