Energy Symposium: using renewable energy sources as alternatives can fix the issue

In collaboration with the Engineers Syndicate in Tulkarem, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Palestine Technical University- Kadoorie organized a scientific symposium under the title “The Future of Energy in Palestine”.
That came with the presence of the Vice President for Academic Affairs- Dr. Mutamed Al-Khateeb, the Dean of Faculty of Engineering- Dr. Makram Abbas, the Head of the Engineers Syndicate Magdy Saleh and representatives of relevant institutions.
The symposium aimed to shed light on the current status of alternative energy and the optimal methods for exploiting them through two sessions.
The first session discussed a number of papers that tackled the role of municipalities in finding alternatives for the insufficient electricity sources and strategies for developing the renewable energy sources as part of alleviating the energy crisis.
The second one included a number of papers that discussed the role of higher educational institutions in finding solutions for the insufficient energy sources.
In this context, Dr. Al-Khateeb explained that the symposium aims at enriching knowledge in sustainable energy topics related to renewable energy sources, adding that the university had previously started implementing a solar energy systemin order to generate the university's electric energy.
At the end of the event, several recommendations were suggested including: the support of related energy scientific research centers – traditional and renewable, encouraging energy contributing companies to ease the installation of solar energy systems on house and industrial roofs and enacting laws and regulations regarding the aim of encouraging biomass energy investment especially in the rural areas and the use of clean energy in general.
