The agricultural sector represents the productive base of the Palestinian economy through its contribution to the GDP, the percentage of its workforce, and its contribution to the food security of the Palestinian citizen. The revitalization of agricultural trade leads to the activation of all related works and the resurrection of the Palestinian economy and its growth due to the hard currency provided by export earnings.
With the development of the agricultural sector, there was a need to provide the market with competent specialists capable of promoting the industry by managing the agribusiness system of production, transportation, storage, manufacturing, policies, food safety and quality, and marketing agricultural products. Therefore, the Master Program in Agribusiness was launched at the national level with the joint efforts of Al-Quds University, Hebron University, An-Najah National University, and Palestine Technical University "Khadouri."
Through the student%27s work in the second year of the program, the student spends a period in the agricultural institution in which he is trained by choosing the research topic under the supervision of the university and the agricultural institution and works to implement the approved research proposal according to the university%27s laws, within the framework of a research problem in the farming institution Through the use of the farm institution%27s resources and the university%27s laboratories, the student discusses at the end of the research training year the master%27s thesis according to the laws followed in the university.
The program seeks to meet the needs of the Palestinian market of specialists and qualified in the agricultural business through the graduation of a cadre with the knowledge, skills, and experience of high quality that enables him to engage in farm business and post-harvest transactions in response to the mission of universities in providing students with the necessary tools to overcome the challenges Challenging and raising their competitive spirit to chart a prosperous future for them
The program offers compulsory courses common to all tracks and courses for each of the following tracks:
• Management and Marketing.
• Food processing.
• Organic Agriculture.
• Agricultural Greenhouse Management.
The program aims to develop the scientific competencies required in agriculture to establish profitable agro-industries and support them in a globally competitive environment.
At the end of the program, graduates will have the necessary skills in agribusiness and sound knowledge of the structure and techniques of the agribusiness sector.
As the program aims to produce:
• Competencies with extensive and modern knowledge of the foundations of agricultural work and its components.
• Experts can apply knowledge of agricultural, industrial, and commercial sciences in agricultural and food systems of inputs, processes, and products.
• Distinguished researchers can find solutions and keep pace with the development of business and agricultural projects.
• Graduates can enroll in doctoral programs and do advanced specialized research.
• Cadres capable of organizing and developing agricultural operations, in line with the need of the Palestinian market to achieve a good return on farms and treasury.
• Experts in solving problems facing farmers, marketers, legislators, manufacturers, and exporters for agricultural products.
• Cadres capable of research, development, and application of new product concepts are not presented in the study plans of the Master of Agriculture programs.
• Transferring modern knowledge and advanced skills to students by providing all human, research, and laboratory resources at the four universities.
Graduates of the Agribusiness Master can work as a Director, Consultant, Quality Assurance and Control Manager, Research and Development Manager, or Entrepreneurship by establishing their agricultural department.
Graduates of the Master of Agricultural Business can work in the following locations:
• Government departments, ministries, the Palestinian Standards, and Metrology Organization, international bodies are working in agriculture and food, agricultural lending institutions, cooperative societies, and fair trade institutions.
• Business interests such as farms and agro-based enterprises.
• Public health laboratories, the Ministry of Agriculture, or other departments or institutions in chemical and microbial food analysis.
• Department of Central Statistics and Statistical Services Related to Agribusiness.
• Follow-up graduate studies for a doctoral degree and engage in the academic field.
• Providing advisory services to the agricultural departments in the plant and animal sectors.
