PTUK Hosts I.C Competition and Offers Scholarships for the Winners

Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie hosted the final stage of the icode competition which was organized by the General Directorate of Technology in the Ministry of Education for the icode students.
The competition, which is considered the first of its kind in Palestine, was held for the students of 9th – 12th grades with a participation of 32 qualifiers and competitors for all directorates of education.
A number of scholarships were announced and offered to the top three rankings to study at Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie.
The Competition Coordinator Dr. Yousif Daraghma explained that the official competition started on Monday July 23, 2018 and lasted for three hours, and contained 13 categorized levels: easy, moderate and difficult where distinctive students had their outstanding fingerprints on the keyboards.
The Director of Information Technology Division at the Ministry of Education, Mohammad Al – Khateeb stated that the competition went into three stages; where the first one included 796 students nominated by their schools, 84 students won an opportunity of training and assessment and 32 of them had the chance to enter the final competition at Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie.
During the opening session, the General Director of the Educational Technology at MOHE, Jihad Dreidi praised the strong and true partnership between the Ministry and the University with the associated institutions including the Partners Sustainable Development and Sabri Company for Computer for their support to the Ministry’s projects.
For his part, the University President Prof Marwan Awartani pointed out that the University hosted the competition as an entitlement being the state university in Palestine to serve the initiatives that mean to develop the Palestinian educational system and that the university supports the technical aspects to qualify a generation of students capable of initiating creative thinking.
Prof Awartani also expressed PTUK’s readiness to incubate this type of events to acquaint the students with the necessary skills needed for bridging the gap between the academic theory in the university and the labor market.
Competition Results
The winners of the competition were respectively: Riham Katout, Samah Qarada, Ahmad Othoman, Alaa’ Dreidi, Ameen Abu Diak, Aya Zaid, Maher Al-Safadi, Naeem Qawasmeh, Rashead Qubaj and Duha Abu Laymoun.
