Prof. Hussein Shanak, President of Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie, participated in yesterday's meeting of the Arab Universities Governance Council at the Middle East University in Jordan. The meeting focused on "Principles of Governance and its Indicators" to enhance Arab universities, promote digital governance culture, and build executive capacities.
The attendees included the Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, Dr. Amr Salama, the Secretary-General of the Arab Universities Governance Council and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Middle East University, Dr. Yaqoub Nasser Al-Din, the Council President, the University President, Dr. Salam Al-Mahadin, and the Director of the Arab Universities Governance Council, Dr. Mohamed Al-Hilah, along with several Arab university presidents.
Discussions revolved around governance's support for entrepreneurship initiatives, enhancing industry partnerships, and contributing to knowledge-based economy development. The meeting recommended drafting a guide for Arab universities governance, organizing the fifth international conference on digital governance, and enhancing the educational experience to create dynamic models qualifying students to be globally competitive.
Prof. Shanak highlighted the university's role in community service, contributing to the development of higher education institutions and their governments, not only at the national level but also regionally and within the Arab context.
During the meeting, Prof. Shanak presented appreciation plaques to Dr. Amr Salama, Dr. Yaqoub Nasser Al-Din, and Dr. Salam Al-Mahadin, acknowledging their efforts in improving Arab and Palestinian higher education.
