Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie signed a cooperation agreement with the Palestinian Hydrology Group to implement a Diploma in Urban Agroecology under the “GAZA FOOD CONNECTIONS” project, funded by Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC). The initiative aims to empower female students and promote sustainable agricultural development.
The agreement was signed by University President Prof. Hussein Shanak and Dr. Abdul Rahman Tamimi, Director General of the Palestinian Hydrology Group, in the presence of Dr. Yahya Astaita, Assistant President for Branch Affairs, and Prof. Joltan Hijjazi, Director of the Ramallah Branch.
The partnership seeks to deliver the diploma program in the West Bank following challenges that prevented its implementation in Gaza. The University will oversee the academic and practical components of the program, providing qualified instructors and an appropriate training environment.
Under the agreement, 20 female students will receive full scholarships covering tuition, practical training, and field-based activities, enhancing their professional readiness and employability.
Both parties emphasized the significance of this collaboration in advancing applied education and strengthening women’s participation in sustainable agriculture.
