    PTUK Hosts National Workshop to Advance Academic Capacity in Palestinian Higher Education

    Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie (PTUK) hosted a specialized national training workshop at its Ramallah campus, targeting academics from Palestinian higher education institutions. The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education as part of national efforts to strengthen academic capacity and enhance the quality of higher education.

    Prof. Hussein Shanak, President of PTUK, underscored the importance of such initiatives in advancing the skills of academic staff and improving educational outcomes. He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to supporting national priorities by making its facilities and resources available to initiatives that advance the higher education system.

    In this context, Minister of Education and Higher Education, Prof. Amjad Barham, emphasized that integrating modern technologies and artificial intelligence into higher education has become essential for improving academic performance and outcomes, particularly in light of the challenges facing the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

    Dr. Muammar Shtayyeh, Head of the National Accreditation and Quality Authority, noted that the national training program is structured around five key pillars: innovation, high-impact scientific publishing, modern teaching methodologies, sustainable capacity building, and the preparation of trainers capable of transferring knowledge within their institutions.

    Mirko Tricoli, representative of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, highlighted that the program reflects a strong strategic partnership with the Ministry to support higher education in Palestine. He also pointed to the role of Insight, the project’s implementing partner, in delivering advanced technical expertise.

    The workshop is funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and aims to enhance academic capacities in digital transformation and equitable access within higher education.
