Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie and the German Jordanian University concluded the activities of the International Summer School on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, which ran for a full week and served as a specialized academic platform for exchanging knowledge and expertise in advanced technologies, bringing together students and researchers from Palestine and Jordan.
During the closing ceremony, held under the patronage of Prof. Hussein Shanak, President of Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie, and Prof. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli, President of the German Jordanian University, participants who successfully completed the training program were honored in recognition of their commitment and active engagement throughout the scientific and practical activities of the summer school.
Prof. Hussein Shanak emphasized that the summer school represents a distinguished model of effective academic partnership between Palestinian and Jordanian universities. He noted that such collaborations highlight the importance of integrating scientific and intellectual efforts to prepare a generation capable of keeping pace with rapid technological transformations, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Prof. Shanak further stated that investing in the development of students' and researchers' capacities and providing advanced educational and training environments remain among the University's priorities, in line with its vision of promoting innovation and academic and research excellence. He added that initiatives of this kind expand opportunities for scientific cooperation and the exchange of expertise with regional and international academic institutions, ultimately enhancing the quality and outcomes of higher education.
For his part, Prof. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli stressed that artificial intelligence and machine learning have become major drivers of progress across various sectors. He highlighted the importance of investing in young talent and equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to compete in a rapidly evolving global environment. He also underscored the value of joint academic initiatives in fostering scientific collaboration, supporting innovation, and facilitating the exchange of expertise among educational institutions.
Meanwhile, the summer school coordinators from both universities described the program as a successful example of academic cooperation between the two institutions. They noted that it contributed to strengthening scientific and cultural exchange among students and researchers, while also helping participants build professional and academic networks to support their future careers in technology and innovation.
The summer school was organized under the supervision of Prof. Kamel Jabrin from Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie, and Prof. Anas Attieh and Eng. Haneen Abboud from the German Jordanian University, as part of the academic partnership between the two universities. The program featured a series of specialized lectures and hands-on workshops in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analysis, delivered by academics and experts from partner institutions. These activities provided participants with valuable practical opportunities to acquire advanced skills and develop promising research ideas and applied projects.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, certificates were awarded to the participants, who expressed their appreciation for the enriching academic experience offered by the summer school. They affirmed that the program had broadened their knowledge, enhanced their skills, and opened new avenues for learning and research in the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
