Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie (PTUK), Ramallah Branch, held an orientation event today, Tuesday, to welcome new students for the 2026/2027 academic year under the theme “Your Day… PTUK/Ramallah.”
The event was attended by PTUK President Prof. Hussein Shanak; Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governor and Fatah Central Committee member Dr. Laila Ghannam; Fatah Central Committee member Mr. Zakaria Zubeidi; Secretary of the University’s Board of Trustees Eng. Issam Al-Qasem; Director of Ramallah Branch Dr. Bilal Al-Rimawi; members of the University’s academic and administrative staff; Fatah Youth Movement Coordinator at Ramallah Branch Yousef Shehadeh; and representatives of official, security, civil society, community, corporate, banking, and partner institutions.
Dr. Laila Ghannam emphasized that education remains one of the key pillars of the Palestinian national project and a fundamental foundation for building individuals, strengthening their resilience, and reinforcing their connection to their homeland. She commended PTUK for continuing to fulfill its educational mission and welcome students at its main campus in Tulkarm and its branches in Ramallah and Al-Aroub, despite the ongoing challenges and targeting faced by national and educational institutions.
She praised the University’s efforts to support its students and strengthen its community and national role, stressing that universities play a central role in safeguarding national identity and preparing a conscious generation capable of addressing challenges. She added that investing in Palestinian people, education, and knowledge is an investment in Palestine’s future, freedom, and independence.
For his part, PTUK President Prof. Hussein Shanak affirmed that the University continues to fulfill its academic, national, and community mission, guided by its vision of providing high-quality education that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application and keeps pace with global developments, labor market needs, and development requirements.
Prof. Shanak noted that, through its main campus in Tulkarm and its branches in Ramallah and Al-Aroub, the University is strengthening its academic presence and international engagement while developing academic, research, and training partnerships and relationships. These efforts support the University’s drive toward greater international engagement and provide students with broader opportunities for learning, knowledge exchange, and interaction with diverse experiences and expertise.
He explained that PTUK continues to develop its academic programs and specializations, enhance its educational and research environment, and strengthen partnerships with national institutions and the public and private sectors. These efforts contribute to empowering students and preparing them for active participation in the labor market and service to their communities. He emphasized that students are at the heart of the educational process and its primary purpose.
Prof. Shanak called on new students to make the most of their university years in a comprehensive manner and not limit themselves to academic achievement. He encouraged them to benefit from the resources, facilities, and university environment provided by PTUK across its campuses and branches to develop their personalities, skills, and leadership capabilities and foster a spirit of initiative. He stressed the importance of becoming leaders in entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity, capable of transforming the knowledge they acquire into impactful ideas, projects, and initiatives.
He also encouraged students to engage in student and community activities and participate in volunteer work and initiatives that serve their communities. Such engagement, he noted, strengthens their sense of responsibility, belonging, and service and prepares them to become true ambassadors of their University and partners in its continued development and service to Palestinian society.
Director of Ramallah Branch Dr. Bilal Al-Rimawi welcomed the guests and new students, expressing the University’s and the branch’s pride in welcoming them to the PTUK community and wishing them a successful and distinguished university journey.
For his part, Fatah Youth Movement Coordinator at Ramallah Branch Yousef Shehadeh highlighted the important role of youth and students in university and national life. He affirmed their commitment to supporting student initiatives and activities and enhancing students’ participation in university events, contributing to the development of their sense of responsibility and belonging, while strengthening cooperation and coordination with the University administration in serving students.
The event featured a range of activities and sessions for new students, as well as the participation of several institutions, companies, banks, and partner organizations through information booths offering students information about their services, programs, and available opportunities.
The event also provided new students with an opportunity to explore the University’s facilities and services at the Ramallah Branch and connect with the participating organizations, in a welcoming atmosphere that reflected the University’s commitment to providing students with a distinctive start to their university journey and fostering their integration into university life from their very first day.
