Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie (PTUK) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with English Discovery Kids Academy to strengthen cooperation and partnership in educational, training, technical, and community-based fields, expanding opportunities for PTUK students to gain practical experience, training, and knowledge exchange while serving the local community.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Rima Daraghmeh, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences, in the presence of Dr. Mutamid Al-Khatib, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Alaa Issa, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Dr. Raed Al-Qarout, Dean of Community Development; Dr. Alfat Jarrad, representing the Employees’ Union; Mr. Omar Joudeh, Director of Public Relations and Media; and Mr. Jihad Yahya. The Academy's delegation was headed by Ms. Enas Al-Jamal, along with Ms. Dareen Iraqi and Ms. Lama Lawi.
Dr. Al-Khatib reaffirmed the University's commitment to strengthening partnerships with local community institutions, emphasizing the importance of integration between educational and community institutions in serving students and the wider community. He noted that the MoU will open broader opportunities for students to benefit from practical expertise, training, and hands-on learning, while supporting joint programs and initiatives.
He added that collaboration with specialized institutions helps enhance the quality of education by connecting academic learning with real-world practice, strengthening students' professional readiness. He expressed his hope that the MoU would provide a foundation for sustainable and productive cooperation between PTUK and the Academy, drawing on the expertise and resources available to both sides.
For her part, Ms. Enas Al-Jamal expressed her appreciation for PTUK and emphasized the importance of developing cooperation with the University to create new opportunities for joint work. She also introduced the Academy, its educational programs, teaching approaches, and activities, highlighting the role of the MoU in structuring cooperation and facilitating the mutual exchange of expertise and resources.
Under the MoU, the two parties will collaborate on educational, recreational, artistic, and community programs, workshops, and activities, as well as exchange knowledge and cultural expertise. The agreement will also provide practical training and community-service opportunities for PTUK students majoring in English at English Discovery Kids Academy.
Areas of cooperation will also include training courses and workshops, student participation in artistic and extracurricular activities, student-led and volunteer initiatives, the use of University facilities in accordance with applicable regulations, and cultural exchange programs and volunteer initiatives that serve the objectives of the partnership and the local community.
The MoU reflects PTUK's continued efforts to strengthen partnerships with local institutions, expand opportunities for students to gain practical training and experience, and bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional practice—contributing to the development of students' skills, enhancing their readiness for the labor market, and advancing the University's role in community service.
