Martyr Yasser Arafat bloc of Fatah Faction secured 19 of 33 seats to win the University Students Council elections for the academic year 2017 – 2018 while Al Wafa’ Islamic bloc gained 11 seats and the “Palestine bloc” which is represented by six student blocs got 3 seats. 3373 of the 5324 university eligible students had their votes to elect the competitive blocs with voting rate at 63.2 %, however, 178 cast ballots were blank and invalid. Head of the Elections Preparatory Committee and Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Husein Shanak said that the elections were secured under a democratic transparent, and integral process.
