A Researcher Kadoorie Publishes a Research on the Germination and Seedling Growth of Barley as Affected by Artemisia Annua Water Extract

The researcher from Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie, and the winner of the Arab Researcher Award for Excellence within the university fellowship program, funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development- Dr.Mazin Salman. The research which revolved around the benefits of Artemisia annua and aimed at identifying the mechanism of germination and growth of crop seeds when irrigated with an aqueous extract of this herb was conducted by Dr. Mazen Salman from PTUK, Dr. Nasser Salama from Mutah University and Dr. Sae’d Abu Rumman from Al-Balqa Applied University. In its preliminary findings, the study revealed that the aqueous extract does not affect the growth of the seed after germination, and that the extract could be used in stimulating the plant immunity. In this context, Dr. Salmanemphasized the great benefits of this research to farmers which could be considered as an organic pesticide which causes is environmentally friendly.
