A Research Team Kadoorie University Seeks to Combat Resseliella Oleisuga Blight in the West Bank


A team of researchers from Kadoorie University conducted a field research on an insect that had attacked olive trees in Al- Ramah village near Jenin. The research team included the Dean of Research and Graduate Studies, Dr.Rana Samara, and students from the environment and sustainable agriculture department, in cooperation with An-Najah National University, represented by Dr. Raed Al-Kawni andCanaan Center for Organic Research and Extension represented by Dr. Samer Jarrar. In this context, the team explained that trees were diagnosed with Resseliella Oleisuga and samples were collected from olive groves to be tested in the agricultural research laboratories to help combat the pest. The Scientific research team will look for solutions to combat this blight in an environmentally friendly manner avoiding the alternative chemical pesticides to encourage using organic and peaceful agricultural practices to reduce the risk of the lesion spread. All these attempts come within the framework of helping the agriculture sector in Palestine which is one of the first and most important departments in Kadoorie.
