Liverpool Hope University’s Delegates Conduct Field Visit to PTUK


A delegation from Liverpool Hope University, comprised of the Youth Work and Community Development Officer Mr. Tracy Ramsay, the Director of Development, Karam Dar, and the Deputy of the Students Union at the University of Liverpool, Olivia Sen conducted a visit to Kadoorie University to have a general overview of the university's programs, projects and future plans. The delegates convened with the Acting University President, Prof. Hussein Shanak, and the Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Shweikeh, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Alaa Issa, the Public Relations staff Mr. Jihad Yahya and Ms. Dyala Ibrahim, and the Chairperson of the Students Council, Mr. Mahmoud Damiri. Prof. Dr. Shank introduced a brief history of Kadoorie University, since establishment in the 1930s as an agricultural school, up to being a leading state university in technical and academic education, going through the scale of scholarships and tuition waivers offered by the university, as well as its strategic and development plans. The acting president also described the student life at the university, the students’ exchange and activities through the Deanship of Student Affairs to be involved in the local community as a strategy to bridge the gap between academic education and the labor market, in addition to the joint cooperation with the private sector through real and effective training opportunities. For her part, Tracy Ramsay indicated that their visit aims at learning about the policies adopted by the Palestinian universities to promote students’ right to education, mobility and participation in international educational institutions.
