Prof. Marwan Awartani –the president of Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie- participated as a keynote speaker in the activities of Third Arab-Euro- Conference on Higher Education organized by the Association of Arab Universities in collaboration with the Federation of European universities, and the University of Barcelona.
The conference was held under the title:“Opportunities and Challenges for Arab and European Universities in Fulfilling their Societal Mission."; and Prof. Awartani presented a research paper about the Israeli violations of the rights of education in Palestine, particularly with regards to the freedom of movement and the academic and research exchanges between Palestine and the rest of the world.
Prof. Awartani also launched a developmental initiative based on "Planetary Citizenship" that would be implemented through an academic course taught in different universities, and directed towards the elevation of moral values on the planet, pluralism and ethics.
It is worth mentioning in this context that the Arab-European Conference on Higher Education AECHE was held with the participation of 250 Arab and European university presidents to create a common framework for the exchange of knowledge and cooperation between Arab and European institutions of higher education.
