The President of Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie, Prof. Nour Addin Aburob has joined the IAU 2018 International Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which was held at the University of Malaya on November 13 – 15, 2018, to be among the 300 participants of higher education scholars, researchers and experts who were brought together to discuss higher education partnerships for societal impact.
Some of the most pressing issues facing today’s higher education were discussed in the conference including the digital transformation, community engagement, responsible research and sustainable development.
The IAU conference has also launched the Higher Education and Research for Sustainable Development (HESD) Cluster, which includes 16 lead universities worldwide per Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) and aims to advocate for Higher Education Institutions’ role in achieving Agenda 2030.
It is worth mentioning that the IAU also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Union of Students in the United Kingdom to develop joint projects on the SDGs.
Prof. Aburob indicated that the University’s participation has strengthened cooperation and opened horizons for new partnerships with prestigious universities and international institutions, and enhanced the university’s global presence in the academic community.
Additionally, PTUK President has also met with the University’s ambassadors in Malaysia to stress their great role in developing the university’s scientific research and promotes its staff giving rise to the fostering the University’s future perspectives and developmental plans.
