Palestine Technical University- Kadoorie organized a scientific and celebratory symposium within the activities of the second day of World Water 2016 "water and jobs". This event was held in cooperation with An-Najah National University, and was funded by the German Cooperation Foundation "GIZ”.
In his speech, the university’s president- Prof. Marwan Awartani focused on the main objective of the seminar which is raising awareness of the risks and challenges that water in Palestine faces and the necessity of taking full responsibility in dealing with these challenges through legislations and the development of policies and plans.
Awaratni also emphasized on the special challenges that water exploitation in Palestine faces as a result of the Israeli occupation and water domination and control issues.
For his part, Prof. Natsheh from An-Najah university emphasized the necessity of adopting effective and integrated management strategies for water reservation and consumption rationalization.
He also stressed that An-Najah National university extends its hands to real partnerships with all the relevant authorities and that this workshop comes as an embodiment of the firm desire to cooperate with other universities the likes of Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie in the areas of scientific research, conferences and programs development to create new joint academic programs.
In his speech, Ramez Al-Titi -the deputy director of water program at the GIZ German Technical Cooperation Foundation- shed light on water realities and manifested that funding such a celebration and the organization of scientific seminars comes in line with the objectives of water-based programs to improve water and sanitation services of the Palestinian people.
Within the activities of the event, two scientific sessions were organized and several experts in the fields of agriculture and water presented lectures concerning different water related topics.
