Under the Auspices of President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen),Palestine Technical University hosted the closing ceremony of the first Arab Youth Volunteers Conference which was organized by the Ministry Of Tourism And Antiquitiesunder the theme "Arab World - Promising Youth - One Goal".
In his speech, the President of Kadoorie- Prof. Marwan Awartani welcomed the Arab delegates noting that the campus was broken into more than eighty times last year, causing nearly 800 injuries among students and staff referring to the fact that the Israeli army confiscated two-thirds of the University's land and established an exceptional military shooting range in the university’s campus pointing out that despite the flood of violations, Kadoorie was able to finish the semester on time presenting a model of resistant education.
Adding that as an incubator of youth, Kadoorie has become a catalyst for the values of civil service and volunteerism through leveraging knowledge economy, which is the most important resource for economic and social development, especially in light of the scarcity of natural resources.
For his part, the head of Tatawa’ (Volunteer) organization – Dr. Abdualah Kamil said that this conference was held in Kadoorie in recognition of its role as an incubator for active citizenship, pointing out that the organizing of the closing ceremony was the result of cumulative efforts that continued for more than a year and a half by Tatawa’ team and the Arab countries, stressing that the main objective of the Foundation is to strengthen the culture of volunteering.
On her part, the representative of the Arab youth Marcel Joan expressed her delight in visiting Kadoorie which came in response to the appeal of Tatawa’ organization in their first founding conference to emphasize the unity of the Arab blood and identity.
The representative of Kadoorie’s Students Union Council - Waseem Abu Attia welcomed the Arab youth, stressing the importance of these meetings and the necessity of holding such events on regular bases because of their role in developing and enhancing the spirit of fraternity among the Arab youth.
