PTUK Inaugurates Palestine Chemical Industries Expo


Under the Patronage of Tulkarem Governor, Issam Abu Baker and in presence of the University President, Prof. Nour Addin Aburob, Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie has inaugurated the Palestinian Chemical Industries Exhibition which included chemical products of companies specialized in industries of medicine, detergents, paints, cosmetics, building chemicals, plastics and other industries, in addition to a workshop in which the participants discussed the actual status of the chemical industry in Palestine and the obstacles that hinder their business. In the pre-session of inauguration, Prof. Aburob stressed the importance of the expo that reflects the challenge and steadfastness of the Palestinian people through the establishment of multiple industrial sectors despite the impediments imposed by the Israeli occupation, indicating in this regard the significance of this industrial sector and the gross outcome to the local economy, which also integrates a significant basis in the developmental plan of the Palestinian national economy, reduces the rate of unemployment and contributes to the nation-building process. The Director of Tulkarem Directorate of Education, Ms. Salam Altaher, praised the efforts of the expo’s organizers and indicated that the expo with the aim of developing the Palestinian chemical industries will greatly leverage the status of the national economy, the Palestinian community and the citizens’ welfare through shedding light on these industries to challenge the hindrances that encounter their ways of development. She suggested expertise transfer and exchange among the private sectors and the educational institutions to develop an integrated system that seek for the desired objectives, introduce well standardized products that meet the local customers’ satisfaction, lead to the independence of industries, exit the current cycle ofthe occupation’s economic dependency, and strive for successful money investment. The Vice Chairman of Chamber of Commerce, Mohammad Awartani called for the foundation of an industrial city that incubates all national industries away from the citizen-populated areas to prevent environmental and health dangers and improve the national products based on international environmental friendly standards of manufacturing.
