President of Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie, Prof. Hussein Shanak, convened with the Project Director of the "Program for Supporting Competitiveness and Growth of Micro-Enterprises in Palestine," implemented by the Small Enterprise Center SEC in partnership with Global Communities Foundation.
The meeting, held at the university's Tulkarm campus, included Project Director Mr. Mahmoud Omeira, his accompanying delegation, Mr. Saad Obeid from the SEC, the Dean of Development and Community Service Dr. Raed Al-Qarout, the Dean of Planning and Development, Dr. Ahmed Shwaika, and several university staff members.
Prof. Shanak welcomed the visiting delegation and provided an overview of the professional, technical, and integrative programs offered by the university in collaboration with the private sector, expressing the university's readiness to cooperate in joint vocational training programs targeting students, graduates, and the local community.
Prof. Shanak emphasized that the university possesses the essential elements for the project's success, including a qualified technical and academic staff to deliver high-quality training, suitable infrastructure and work environment, advanced workshops, and development centers.
He also highlighted the importance of community partnerships in promoting innovation and sustainable development, noting the university's continuous efforts to strengthen cooperation with civil society organizations and the private sector to support small projects and create new job opportunities.
Mr. Omeira explained that the project targets small and medium enterprises in the Palestinian furniture sector and aims at improving women's participation in the workforce by addressing market gaps, noting that the project's support is based on technical and vocational education and training in collaboration with furniture companies in Tulkarem and local partners.
He asserted that the project also aims at enhancing the efficiency and productivity of small and medium enterprises, contributing to local economic growth and the improvement of Palestinian product quality.
