The Media Technology Department at Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie PTUK participated in the 17th annual ARIJ Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism Forum held at the Dead Sea, Jordan, from December 4 to 6, 2024, under the theme “Journalism Without Constraints.” The department was represented by Lecturer Mohammad Omaryeh.
The forum featured in-depth discussions and panels addressing the key challenges facing investigative journalism today, including the impact of artificial intelligence and digital technologies on journalistic practices.
Dr. Ahmad Ammar, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences at PTUK, highlighted the strategic importance of this participation, stating that this aligns with the university’s strategic vision to engage academically with diverse educational and research institutions, reinforcing PTUK’s position as a leading scientific hub regionally and globally.
Through this initiative, the faculty seeks to expand academic collaboration and forge strategic partnerships with esteemed institutions to exchange scientific expertise and enhance the professional capacities of our academic staff," he added.
This engagement aims to create new opportunities, develop academic programs in line with global standards, and enrich educational and research experiences, ultimately enhancing the quality of educational outcomes and elevating the university’s reputation regionally and internationally.
Lecturer Mohammad Omaryeh emphasized that this initiative fosters an environment conducive to excellence and encouraging participation in international events, noting that this experience represents a significant step toward strengthening the university’s position in the Arab and international media landscape.
During the forum, Omaryeh participated in a panel discussion on ARIJ’s new guide to investigative journalism. The session brought together distinguished academics from various Arab universities, focusing on the importance of adopting the guide as an academic resource to develop media curricula and equip students with the skills needed to tackle journalistic challenges with high professionalism.
