Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie, through its Deanship of Student Affairs, hosted a theatrical performance titled The Stranger at the Martyr Yasser Arafat Theater. The event was organized in partnership with the Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Center and managed by "Yes Theatre" in collaboration with the Student Union Council.
The initiative aimed to promote artistic culture and shed light on societal and national issues through theatrical arts.
Mr. Bilal Sheikh, Head of Activities and Follow-up at the Deanship of Student Affairs, emphasized that hosting this performance is part of the deanship's efforts to foster meaningful cultural and artistic activities on campus.
It also provides students with an opportunity to explore community issues from creative and diverse perspectives while raising awareness about the impact of the Israeli occupation on Palestinian lives, including the effects on people and infrastructure. This approach combines entertainment with education.
The play The Stranger portrays the life of a simple Palestinian family living in one of the Palestinian communities that face daily attacks by settlers and the occupation forces. It highlights how the family deals with these aggressions and addresses the challenges faced by Palestinian communities threatened with forced displacement.
"Yes Theatre" is performing the play in thirteen such communities, with audiences comprising local residents and concerned officials. The project is being carried out in collaboration with the Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Center.
