Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie has successfully concluded its participation in the Human Rights and Gender Workshop, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Italian Development Cooperation. The workshop brought together delegations from Palestinian universities and related institutions. Representing the university were Dr. Ahmed Ammar, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences; Dr. Fadi Daraghmeh, Head of the General Culture Department; Dr. Fadi Abu Dayyak; and Dr. Intisar Al-Qareeb from the same department.
Dr. Ammar expressed his satisfaction with the inclusion of the "Human Rights and Gender" course as part of the general culture curriculum in the Faculty of Arts. He highlighted the course's importance in raising students’ awareness and enhancing their understanding of human rights and gender issues.
Dr. Intisar Al-Qareeb, one of the contributors to the textbook, presented the second chapter, titled Gender. She discussed its key contents and objectives, explaining the concept of gender and the role of women in societal development. She highlighted the foundational social roles, the legal framework governing women's rights, and the relevant international and national charters, including the Palestinian Declaration of Independence and the Basic Law. Dr. Al-Qareeb also addressed the current status of Palestinian women and strategies for its advancement.
Dr. Fadi Abu Dayyak, another contributor to the textbook, reviewed the first chapter, which focuses on the concept of human rights, its characteristics, and its historical evolution. He detailed the international standards for human rights and emphasized the importance of education in this field. Dr. Abu Dayyak stressed that instructors of this course must fully embrace the principles of human rights to ensure the course's objectives are achieved.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants and contributors were honored by Dr. Moammar Shtaywi, Head of the Accreditation and Quality Authority, and Dr. Ali Abu from the Italian Development Cooperation, in recognition of their efforts and contributions to the project.
