PTUK Hosts Palestine Blood Bank for Community Service Purposes


Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie in cooperation with the Palestine Blood Bank organized a guidance meeting for 471 students of the community service course aiming at mechanisms of registration and blood donating procedures, in presence of the University Physician, Dr. Abdullah Fahel, the Advisors in the Community Development and Studies, Maher Qamhawi and Amani Abeid, and Palestine Blood Bank PR Officer, Ms. Karmel Yaseen as well as the “We Need You” Program Coordinator, Ms. Kholood Jarara. Mr. Qamhawi introduced an explanation about the registration mechanisms in the course which is an obligatory course for all students, stating the University’s keenness of the students’ engagement in the community service and voluntary work which will accelerate the community development process and build an active, giving generation. For their part, the Blood Bank representatives highlighted the health benefits for the blood donators which help promote functioning the circulatory system and meet the urgent need of blood units in the Palestinian hospitals, in addition to disseminate the culture of blood donating for the public service. Dr. Abdullah called for the students to interact in the medical day which will be organized by the University in corporation with Palestine Blood Bank next month. “An event is at highly importance since the increasing numbers of Cancer and thalassemia patients especially in Tulkarem City as well as the continuous emergencies due to instability of the political and security situations in the area,”he added.
