Kadoorie Discusses Means of Joint Cooperation with a Delegation the Arizona State University and IREX Foundation


The rector of Palestine Technical University- Prof. Marwan Awartani discussed prospects of mutual cooperation with a delegation from Arizona State University (ASU) and the IREX Foundation with presence of the coordinator of the Teacher Qualification Program and interested students. The delegation which encompassed Kirstin Boehm, Stephanie Lake and Alia Shaar from IREX Foundation alongside with Sam DiGangi from ASU discussed means of developing the Teacher Qualification Program with special focus on pre-service teacher training Teacher education programs at PTUK, the process of job finding, students’ impressions of the PTUK Teacher Qualification Program, the challenges that school teachers face as a result of the lack of practical training, and the challenges students expect to face in the classroom. In this context, Prof. Awartani emphasized that Kadoorie University seeks to develop leadership and creativity among students explaining the need for developing the students’ mental capacity in addition to developing the students' problems solving abilities. In turn, the coordinator of the Teacher Qualification Program at PTUK- Dr. Nuha Utair suggested some developmental steps of the program; those ranged from changing or adding courses in learning differences, bettering infrastructure, to offering supplementary materials.
