Palestine Technical University- Kadoorie organized the first day of the SecondUndergraduateResearch & Innovation Conference in Engineering and Information Technology- Students Graduation Projects under the patronage of Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Rami Hamdallah represented by the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Sabri Siadem, in the presence of the Minister of Communications and Information Technology- Dr. Allam Mousa and presidents of Palestinian universities alongside with the participation of more than 100 creative projects from the faculties of engineering in Palestinian universities, many international experts, academics and Palestinian expatriates and institutions supporting leadership and innovation. Merger ... Advisory Board ... and Law During the opening of the conference, the Minister of Education and Higher Education- Dr. Sabri Sidam announced the merging of the Technical Colleges of Palestine (Ramallah Girls college and Al-Arroub) with Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie following the decision of the Council of Ministers. Saidam also announced commencing the work on the Council the University's Advisory Board that would help in the promotion of professional and technical programs. Dr. Saidam also praised the efforts of the university in organizing this conference and the valuable role it plays in leveraging the educational system in Palestine. The Conference ...a Consolidation of the University's Technical Identity For his part, the President of the University- Prof. Marwan Awartani explained that this conference aims at strengthening the university's technical identity and expressing the high status of innovation in the university's vision. Research and Technology are important Levers for Development in Palestine The Minister of Communications and Information Technology- Dr. Allam Mousa stressed the importance of the conference, especially since it is based on research and technology, which is one of the most important development levers in Palestine. Developing a Modern State of Art Scientific State For his part, the head of the Higher Council for Innovation and Excellence- Adnan Samara, said that the subject of scientific research and innovation needs attention in order to reach a modern scientific state that supports the culture of pioneership and creativity. Knowledge Economy and Innovation Promotion ... During the first Panel which was moderated by the Assistant of the President of Al-Quds Open University - Dr. Islam Omar under the title "The Role of Palestinian Universities in Building Knowledge Economy and Enhancing the System of Innovation", which included: the president of PTUK- Prof. Marwan Awartani, President of Al-Quds University- Prof. Emad Abu Kishk, Acting President of An-Najah National University- Prof. Maher Al- Natsheh, President of the Arab American University- Prof. Ali Abu Zuhri, President of Polytechnic University - Prof. Imad Al-Khatib, and President of Hebron University -Salah Zaroo. During this session, it was emphasized that the Palestinian universities should come up with a collective initiative method to intensify efforts and capacities and share resources and integrate them in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation in order to strengthen the system of creativity and innovation. During this session, the university presidents also called for the establishment of a network to foster the theme of innovation, leadership and creativity among Palestinian universities.
