PTUK President Honors Outstanding Alawneh for Agricultural Proposed Project


The President of Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie, Prof. Nour Aburob has honored the distinguished student “Mufeed Alawneh” – Mechanic Engineering for his state of art project in the field of agriculture: “Wireless Irrigation and Fertilization System.” Alawneh has been granted a full scholarship for his great contribution to the development of agricultural scientific research and for his excellent participation representing the University in international scientific exhibitions. The Student “Alawneh” had taken part in the recent Expo-Sciences Asia in South Korea to represent the university, funded by the High Council for Innovation and Excellence, where he was promoted two certificates of excellence: the best project in the expo and the best agricultural project. Alawneh’s project is about a systematic control that enables the farmers to irrigate and fertilize their farms remotely and also detects for plant diseases, which ultimately helps the farmers grow their agricultural products naturally with full ease and high quality maintenance. “What made me go into developing this technology was my observation to the weaknesses of the agricultural sector in Palestine and the insisting need of the farmers to ease their work, reduce their production cost, and increase their income,”Alawneh said. The University President expressed his pride in this Palestinian youth achievement which reflects the positive picture of the Palestinian high interest in science which certainly involves the Palestinian youth in the international renowned competitions that foster scientific research. He also stressed the University’s keenness to support Alawneh and the students alike offering them all they need during their innovative journey for the service of scientific research and the local community.
