The President of Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie, Prof. Nour Aburob received in his office the official representative of Norway in Palestine Ms. Hilda Haraldstad, the Consul Mr. Thomas Berdal and their accompanied delegation to discuss future cooperation in fields of education and scientific research.
The aim of the visit, as stated by Ms. Haraldstad, was to learn about the culture of Tulkarem city and see the history PTUK as it constitutes a great scientific and social landmark in the area.
Prof. Aburob stressed the University’s keenness to build bridges of cooperation and partnership with international academic institutions in academic and students exchange programs and technology transfer aiming at leveraging the university status in the international forums.
The University President also explained the technical and governmental specificity of the university endeavoring to provide accessible education with low tuition fees for the Palestinian community in every part of the country.
The Director of Public Relations and Media, Azmi Saleh, briefed the delegation about the historic development of Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie since establishment to agricultural school and to the only technical, state university in Palestine, pointing out the continuous incursions and confiscation of land by the Israeli occupation inside the campus.
The Dean of Planning and Development, Dr. Mokarram Abbas touched upon the master plan of the university and the most significant projects particularly solar energy, which is designed to put an end to the repeated electricity cut offs that the local community suffer, providing on the other hand clean, safe and competitive energy for the university and the area.
