Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie participated in the 57th General Conference of the Association of Arab Universities, hosted by the International University in Kuwait. The event, held under the theme "Enhancing Regional Integration and Digital Transformation in Arab Higher Education," brought together representatives from over 250 Arab universities. Distinguished attendees included the Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Egypt's Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ayman Ashour, and Palestine's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Amjad Barham.
The university was represented by its president, Prof. Hussein Shanak, who emphasized the conference's role as a vital platform for fostering academic collaboration among Arab universities, exchanging expertise, and formulating joint strategies to advance higher education institutions in the region amidst growing challenges.
Prof. Shanak stated, "Kadoorie’s participation in this Arab conference, as a state university, carries a strategic dimension, reflecting our commitment to our national and educational mission and our constant pursuit of building impactful partnerships that support the development of higher education in Palestine."
He added, "This conference is not merely a periodic gathering but a significant meeting point for shaping integrative visions and innovative initiatives among Arab higher education institutions, contributing to a shared academic future built on innovation and digital integration."
A key highlight of the conference was the launch of the "Support and Relief Fund for Palestinian Higher Education Institutions in Gaza," aimed at contributing to the rebuilding of affected universities and ensuring the continuity of education for Palestinian students.
Participants also addressed several strategic topics, including the Arab Knowledge Bank, the Arab Digital Education Platform, the Arab Higher Education Area Initiative, and Arab university rankings.
On the sidelines of the conference, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie and the International University in Kuwait, represented by Dr. Barakat Al-Hadhiban, Chairman of its Board of Trustees.
Additionally, Prof. Shanak met with the Ambassador of Palestine to Kuwait, H.E. Rami Tahboub, to explore avenues for academic and cultural collaboration between Palestinian universities and Kuwaiti educational institutions.
