Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie, in partnership with the Environmental Education Center and the Environmental Quality Authority, held a biodiversity awareness workshop. The event, organized with the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Student Council, involved faculty, students, and local environmental officials.
Prof. Nawaf Abu Khalaf, Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, highlighted Palestine’s rich biodiversity, home to over 51,000 species, stressing the importance of their protection and study.
Salma Barqawi discussed the Anabta Women's Environmental Forum’s efforts in environmental awareness since 2014, including tree planting and cleanliness campaigns.
Mai Rahal from the Environmental Quality Authority addressed biodiversity challenges in Palestine, the impact of Israeli actions on Gaza, and the significance of the International Day for Biological Diversity. She also highlighted sustainability efforts and relevant laws.
Mustafa Katana noted that the Kadoorie Environmental Forum has been active since 2014, conducting various environmental and educational activities.
These sessions are part of a larger initiative covering six governorates, involving multiple universities and local organizations, targeting women's, youth, and community forums.
