Jerusalem is Here Festival Embodies Palestinian Holy Land Lives at PTUK


In support of the Jerusalem youth, the Deanship of Students’ Affairs and the Students’ Council at Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie organized the heritage festival under the title: “Jerusalem is Here” within “Hirak Project”, which is implemented by the Palestinian Vision Organization in partnership with the Danish Church Aid (DCA) and funded by the European Union to promote communication between the Palestinian cities. Hirak Project aims at supporting positive change for youth living in Jerusalem by promoting community leadership and advocating for the political, social and economic rights of Palestinians living in Jerusalem under International Humanitarian Law (IHL). The festival included events of Dancing Dapka by “Rewaq Folklore Dapka Troupe”, exhibitions of homemade products, discussions of documentaries about Jerusalem, a storyteller about Jerusalem, and a market place that included food, desserts, and local handmade industries from Jerusalem city. The University President, Prof. Nour Addin Aburob indicated that the festival enhances the Palestinian people’s adherence to their history, identity and belonging to the city of Jerusalem as it constitutes a historic, religious and national holy place for the Palestinians and supports the Jerusalemites’ resilience against the policies of Judaization, annexation and deportation that the Israeli occupation has always been practicing including confiscation and destruction of property. Prof. Aburob also stressed the University’s policy towards organizing and hosting such students’ events and activities toinculcatethe social and national values in the students to raise their awareness and thought of building their State of Palestine.
