Media Development Center of Birzeit University in cooperation with the Media Technology Department at Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie and the Journalists Syndicate held a dialogue session discussing the National Initiative “Forsa” outcomes for the Development of Palestinian Media.
“Chance – Forsa” campaign mainly focuses on adopting new decisions made by policy makers to have a more transparent, free and open Palestinian media.
Academics and media students from Kadoorie University, Arab American University and An-Najah National University attended the session discussing laws that regulate and strengthen the media sector in Palestine.
The Head of Media Technology Dr. Mohamed Ashtewi, expressed the readiness of PTUK’s Media Technology Department to be actively involved in Forsa campaign which will lead to a significant rise to the development of media status.
The Director of the Media Development Center at Birzeit University, Nibal Thawabta, said that the campaign is not only an opportunity to target the government, universities and the media syndicate, but also to raise the awareness of media students who are the backbone of the future of media in Palestine.
She indicated that the initiative had accessed to these decisions in an integrated and shared form of more than 85 institutions and partners from all sectors and 16 universities and colleges from the West Bank and Gaza.
For his part, the representative of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate Jafar Ashtia pointed out that the Syndicate is a fundamental and active partner in this campaign calling for joining the efforts at all levels to promote national media within new modernized and updated regulations and laws.
