Under the patronage of the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Sabri Saidam an agreement described as “historic” was signed between Palestine Technical University-kadoorie, Palestine Technical College - Ramallah, Palestine Technical College -'Arroub syndicates and the ministry of education.
Under the terms of the agreement, the syndicates pledged not to carry out any strikes that would hinder the educational process or interfere with the work of organizations in the next five years.
The agreement also included a developmental bonus for the administrative and academic staff that is to be disbursed from the university’s and college’s budgets. After the completion of the necessary studies and upon signing, merger procedures between the university and the colleges are to be commenced.
In this context, Dr. Saidam described this agreement as historic as it demonstrates the keenness of the ministry and the great attention it pays for the development of higher education and the achievement of the workers demands. Saidam also praised the efforts of universities and technical colleges representatives and their great role in building a constructive dialogue to reach this agreement, stressing the need to provide quality services to students.
For his part, the president of Kadoorie University, Prof.Marwan Awartani expressed his delight for such an agreement, adding that the university administration has taken important steps towards the appreciating and valuing its administrative and academic employees.
Awartani also expressed kadoorie’s openness to the idea of integration which contributes to the empowerment of the university staff and to fostering the spirit of development and advancement of the vocational and technical education in Palestine.
