Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie PTUK hosted today, Monday, the official opening ceremony of the Third Tulkarm National Industries Festival “Benaamerha”, held on the University campus. The event was organized by the Tulkarm Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Al-Fajr Media Network, and Just Pro Event Company, in the presence of a wide array of national, economic, and community leaders.
Attending the opening were PTUK President Prof. Hussein Shanak, Governor of Tulkarm Maj. Gen. Dr. Abdullah Kamil, Minister of National Economy Eng. Mohammad Al-Amoor representing the Prime Minister, Governor of Nablus Mr. Ghassan Daghlas, President of the Federation of Palestinian Chambers of Commerce Mr. Abdo Idris, President of the Tulkarm Chamber of Commerce Mr. Qais Awad, in addition to members of the Board of Trustees, strategic sponsors, business leaders, representatives of security, civil, and municipal institutions, and a large gathering of public figures.
In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Hussein Shanak expressed his pride in the University’s role as host of this national economic event, saying:
“We warmly welcome you to PTUK’s main campus, at a time when our people are enduring great hardships—especially in Gaza—yet the will to live and rebuild remains unbroken.”
He emphasized that holding the festival under such challenging conditions is a living model of partnership and synergy between the public and private sectors, noting that PTUK views this collaboration as an integral part of its mission to promote sustainable community development.
“Today we witness one of the manifestations of this partnership, which we hope will mark the beginning of an active economic movement to overcome the repercussions of recent years,” he added.
Prof. Shanak highlighted that despite difficult circumstances, the University has continued its academic mission and strengthened its presence as a national state university, achieving notable progress in global rankings and international projects, and becoming a destination for outstanding students thanks to its diverse academic programs and engagement with community initiatives.
He concluded by reaffirming PTUK’s openness to all national efforts that strengthen resilience and support development, expressing gratitude to all partners and organizers who contributed to the success of this event.
In his remarks, Governor Abdullah Kamil conveyed the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas, affirming that the Palestinian people, like the phoenix, continue to rise toward freedom and independence despite all challenges.
“Launching the Third Tulkarm Festival under these circumstances demonstrates the steadfastness and determination of our people to live and build, despite the ongoing pressures,” he said.
Minister of National Economy Eng. Mohammad Al-Amoor, representing the Prime Minister, praised the organizers, stating:
“Today we meet in Tulkarm—a city facing relentless aggression—yet determined to drive economic revival. This festival embodies partnership between the public and private sectors and sends a message of hope and resilience to our people.”
Mr. Qais Awad, President of the Tulkarm Chamber of Commerce, reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to advancing the local economy through partnership with various institutions, while Mr. Abdo Idris, President of the Federation of Palestinian Chambers, commended the initiative as a practical expression of a culture of production and perseverance, lauding the efforts of the Governor, PTUK, and the Chamber in fostering national cooperation.
Mr. Jamal Hourani, Director of the Arab Bank’s Palestine Region, noted that the Bank’s sponsorship reflects its dedication to supporting national initiatives and strengthening institutional resilience and sustainability.
The Third Tulkarm National Industries Festival “Benaamerha” continues for four days on PTUK’s campus, featuring the participation of around 55 national companies and institutions. The festival includes economic, cultural, and entertainment activities aimed at promoting Palestinian products, encouraging investment, and revitalizing local commerce in the governorate.
