In Presence of Survival: Art Exhibition Showcases PTUK Students’ Works

Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie PTUK inaugurated an art exhibition titled “In the Presence of Survival”, organized by the Departments of Applied Arts and Interior Design within the Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences, in cooperation with the Student Council and the Fatah Youth Movement Shabiba. The event took place at the library courtyard on the main campus. The exhibition was opened by PTUK President Prof. Hussein Shanak, in the presence of Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Moatamad Al-Khatib, Dean of the Faculty Dr. Rima Dragmeh, Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Alaa Issa, faculty and staff members, and a large audience of students and community members. Prof. Shanak praised the artistic works, emphasizing that they reflect the depth of the Palestinian experience and embody human and national meanings, noting that the exhibition demonstrates students’ ability to use art as a form of expression and resilience in the face of challenges. The exhibition featured a diverse collection of artworks employing oil and watercolor paintings, charcoal and ink drawings, mixed media, mosaics, and sculptures. Through these works, students explored themes of homeland, identity, displacement, childhood, and collective memory. This event aligns with PTUK’s mission to support talented students, encourage artistic creativity, and provide a free platform for students to showcase their work to peers and the local community. It also underscores the role of Palestinian art as a tool for documentation, awareness, and beauty. The event concluded with a tour of the exhibition, where attendees expressed appreciation for the profound messages and authentic visual narratives conveyed through the artworks. The exhibition reaffirmed PTUK’s pioneering role in nurturing student creativity and promoting art and culture as integral elements of the university’s identity as the State University of Palestine.
